Grimston House is less than 5 miles from York in North Yorkshire. You will find that set in an acre of mature gardens beside the A19 at Deighton it is an ideal location combining country with easy transport links. There is a regular Arriva 415 bus service between York and Selby or the red line park and ride nearby at York Designer Outlet so you can leave the car and explore York at leisure.
We are located on the south side of York and within easy access of York University, Racecourse Yorkshire Air Museum and Elvington Airfield. Queen Margaret's school, Deighton Lodge and Escrick Park . Situated less than 3 miles from the A64 our guests have found staying here is a good base to explore the North Yorkshire Moors, Wolds &Coast all within an hours drive or a stopover point if travelling up and down the country
Grimston House built in the 1930's by the landowner of 3 nearby farms is an impressive Colonial - style house and has previously been a home for disabled children and doctors surgery before becoming a bed and breakfast in the 1980's. You will find we are a traditional bed and breakfast with a selection of rooms to suit both business and leisure travellers, to enjoy home comforts, safe parking, spacious rooms, homemade fayre and a freshly cooked English breakfast. Grimston House is in a beautiful setting with a relaxing Country House feel where you can enjoy a short break away with tea and scones served in the lounge to our guests staying 2 nights or more arriving between 3.30 and 5pm included in their stay.
All our rooms have King-size Single or Super-king Beds with cotton bedding and all have an ensuite shower room except Room 2 which has a standard double bed and external private bathroom with both bath and shower across the landing. All rooms have flat screen TV and hospitality trays including fresh milk;some also have fridges and little extras. Children over 12 years can be accommodated in our triple rooms. As members of Deliciously Yorkshire we are committed to sourcing our food from local suppliers within 15 miles and our eggs are freshly laid by our own chickens
If you are looking for somewhere to eat, the White Swan pub is a 5 minute walk away and less than a mile away at Escrick you will find The Black Bull Inn, The Fat Abbott or the Saingthai. Escrick also has a BP garage with Spar and Subway and ATM. We can arrange snacks during the week if you prefer not to go out or pre booked meals for small groups of friends and family.
Arriving by cycle or motorbike? - The Sustrans 65 is about half a mile away accessed by a minor road and goes into York via the racecourse and the famous Squires cafe is 10 miles away. We have parking for bikes and motorbikes and can arrange washing and drying facilities.
York is a city full of history with fascinating streets and a plethora of shops, museums and galleries. The river Ouse winds its way through the city and many visitors find a boat trip provides them with a different view of this splendid city. If you stay a while you will find some quaint historic towns and nature trails nearby and many English Heritage and National Trust properties and landscapes to visit. If you are feeling energeic you can go fishing, enjoy horse riding, play golf or meander around gardens all within a few miles.
